Inaugural of Saakshi TV channel in Hyderabad on Saturday
HYDERABAD: Saakshi TV, the ‘first high definition Telugu news channel in South East Asia’, was launched amid fanfare, including a fashion extravaganza, at Gachibowli indoor stadium here on Saturday.
Coming from the house of Saakshi Telugu daily owned by Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, son of Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, the launch saw politicians from major political parties, barring the grand alliance partners making their appearance at the function marked by eye-catching laser show and a dance and song sequence by popular choreographers from Bollywood.
The awestruck audience was witness to special laser show by Tracy Jeffery of Australia. Dance and song sequence by Terrance Lewis drew wide applause. Fashion show by models from Mumbai was another attraction.
Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said Saakshi Telugu daily, which created ripples through its neutral coverage, would continue to follow the same principle while covering news events on the TV channel. Saakshi TV would be beamed round the clock from March 1, he added.
Governor N. D. Tiwari, Chief Minister Dr. Reddy, Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Anand Sharma, Speaker K. R. Suresh Reddy, AICC general secretary M. Veerappa Moily, APCC chief D. Srinivas, BJP president Bandaru Dattatreya, MIM president Assaduddin Owaisi, Praja Rajyam general secretary Allu Arvind, Lok Satta Party president Jayaprakash Narayan and film star Akkineni Nagarjuna attended the event.
